Jeffrey D. Lindsay is an IP/Technology Consultant at Innovationedge. He has a Ph.D. in chemical engineering (Brigham Young University) and has been a registered U.S. patent agent since 1997. His fields of work and intellectual property practice include sustainable materials, pulp and paper, personal care products, biofilm, laundry, odor control, skin care, coating, food and beverage packaging, LED lighting, security systems, gummies, supercapacitor power systems, AI, animal care devices, and biofuels.

With Cheryl Perkins, Jeff was a co-author of Conquering Innovation Fatigue (John Wiley & Sons, July 2009), which explores solutions for overcoming many overlooked barriers to innovation success.

Jeff is a long-time member of AIChE, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, where he has been recognized as a Fellow since 2014 and was director of the Forest Bioproducts Division for many years, receiving AIChE’s Andrew Chase Award in 2012 for his service. Jeff is also a member of TAPPI, the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry and of NAPP, the National Association of Patent Practitioners. Every year since 2015, Jeff has been recognized as a leading IP strategist globally by IAM Media Group (UK) in their IAM 300 Strategy list.

Jeff’s previous roles including Assistant and then Associate Professor at the Institute of Paper Science and Technology (now the Renewable Bioproducts Institute at Georgia Tech), Senior Research Fellow and Corporate Patent Strategist at Kimberly-Clark Corporation, a Director at Innovationedge, Head of Intellectual Property at Asia Pulp and Paper (Shanghai, China, where Jeff lived for nearly nine years), and Head of IP and R&D at Lume Deodorant.

Jeff speaks German and Mandarin, and is currently learning Swahili. He has lived in Switzerland, Germany, and China. He serves as a board member for Hope and Help Together, a community organization in Appleton, Wisconsin, which works to assist refugees and immigrants in the Fox Cities region. He was a member of the Advisory Board for the IP World Summit, Amsterdam, Sept. 2017, has long been a member of Honors Committee for the Paper Industry International Hall of Fame, and has been a speaker at many technical and IP events in China, the US, and elsewhere.
